The city of Seattle is located near the waters of Puget Sound, the Washington and Union ¬Lakes and a number of rivers, while the Cascade Mountains and the Issaquah Alps can be found to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west¬. It covers an extensive area in the northeast of the United States where nature, urban development and people coexist free of bad habits and conflicts. Seattle is characterized by its high quality of life, low levels of illiteracy and customary drinking of coffee. Although there are many important museums dedicated to the visual arts here, music is what this city does best. While the Seattle Symphony Orchestra is one of the most popular and frequently recorded orchestras in the country, it is popular music that has made this city famous for Seattle is the birthplace of Jimmy Hendrix and the Grunge movement of the 1990s.
The center of the city is very attractive for tourists as it has recently been remodeled and features such attractions as the Olympic Sculpture Park and the Experience Music Project designed by architect Frank Gehry as well as monorails and the Space Needle which were inspired by futuristic ideas. All in all it is a delight for tourists although the city’s attractions do not stop there for outside the city center, beyond its bohemian neighborhoods, lakes and rivers are the mountains and vegetation that have earned Seattle the name of the Emerald City.
