Requirements to Travel to China 

The People’s Republic of China, together with the Chinese consulate and embassies, process visas for passengers traveling to China for tourist, business or educational reasons. In general, citizens from most countries throughout the world are required to obtain a visa for entry to China with limited exceptions as follows:

  • Nationals of the People’s Republic of China
  • Passengers with authorization of residence in the People’s Republic of China.
  • Passengers with Permanent Alien IDs.
  • Nationals of San Marino with valid passports whose stay does not exceed 90 days.
  • Nationals of Brunei, Japan and Singapore with valid passports whose stay does not exceed 15 days.
  • Passengers with authorization for entrance to Hong Kong and residents of Macao (SAR China).
  • Passengers with authorization for expedited travel for representation of the People’s Republic of China.
  • Passengers traveling with an APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) business travel card valid for entrance to the People’s Republic of China.

Likewise, passengers with certain nationalities can travel to the People’s Republic of China with diplomatic, official or service passports.
